Polynomials and Art
This project required each student to take any normal picture, then once this was done they would have to find some at least two polynomials on the picture. Then we would copy those polynomials or lines on a plastic sheet that was graphed. From here we were able to find certain things such as local minimum and maximums, finding out what the equations are or what the zeros would be. The final step to this project was to create a whole new picture from the polynomials you had on the plastic sheet.

A real zero is when you have an equation crossing the x-axis. Each point on the line has an x and y value but when the line intersects the axis it is considered a zero. When the line intercepts the x axis the y value becomes a zero.
The way to find the x intercept is to know the value of x that will make the equation equal to zero. One way you can do this is by factoring the problem; this will reveal which value of x equals zero. In certain situations there is imaginary zero which is where the polynomial will curve but not intercept the x-axis. Then there are multiple zero’s which means that when factored the same number will be your answer for x multiple times.
In some polynomials there are local maximums and local minimums. The local maximum is seen where the polynomial line is at its highest point on the graph in a particular region. Now this is the total opposite for the local minimum which is the point that the line is on the lowest point of the graph.

Reflection
I really did like this project because it was challenging to the point where I could still enjoy it and have fun, i thought that it required me to use skills I never thought I had. Another great part of this project was that Effi really helped me when I was confused on some of the projects and in the end with the help i needed plus all of the effort I put into it my overall project was something to be proud of. The largest reason that this project was my favorite was because the drawing part was really fun and new for me. Since I am not the best at drawing and it seemed impossible to make something out of what I had it seemed lie it would not be fun. However once I had actually created my visual I was really proud of it and the overall grade I got.
